DL.ART Thankful Thursday Challenge #191 - Fairy Tales

Happy Thursday!! I hope you are having a wonderful week!! It's time for a new challenge at DL.ART and the theme this week is one of my favorites...Fairy Tales :) If you used the code l01210, Diana will give you 10% off your order at DL.ART.

I had so much fun making these cards!! If you look in the dictionary, the definition of a fairy tale is a children's story of magical creatures...wizards, fairies, goblins, mermaids... Of course I had to pick my favorite fairy tale creature...a mermaid :)

I started with papers from Maja Designs Summer Basics stack. The edges were all distressed with a Zutter DIA. The wave die is from My Creative Time.

This beautiful ribbon is Silvery Hue Sea from Mermaid's Tale Second Edition. The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts. Tucked under the blooms are Memory Box Chloe Stems and Paper Smooches Foliage 2 dies. Pearls were added to the Chloe Stems.

This gorgeous ribbon is Blue Hue Tale from Mermaid's Tale Second Edition. Some cheesecloth and rope-type lace were added for a nautical touch.

The beautiful mermaid is a Tattered Lace die. She was cut three times...once in black for a shadow, once in patterned paper and once again in patterned paper that was covered in glitter.

The frame is a Spellbinders die that was covered in Wendy Vecchi Crackle Paste. Shabby White Frantage was added behind the mermaid. Celebrate is a Penny Black Doodles die.

The cards were topped off with white paint using a Tim Holtz Splatter Brush. I'm entering this in the following challenges:

1) Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - Anything Goes
2) Jo's Scrap Shack Funday Friday - Anything Goes
3) Little Scrap Pieces - Show It Off Saturday
4) Scrapping4funChallenge - Anything Goes
5) Word Art Wednesday - Anything Goes

Now it's your turn!! Head on over to DL.ART to see the amazing projects my design team sisters have created for today's challenge!! Then link up your Fairy Tale project!! I can't wait to see what you create :)

So I haven't had a chance to take very many nature pictures lately, but I wanted to share some visitors to my yard. This guy ventured close to the house. But when I snapped pics of the groundhog...

...he was not happy about it - and he let me know it :)

And there are a flock of turkeys that live here all year around, but I was surprised to see a tree full of these guys...

Ugh!! Turkey Vultures!! Quite possibly the most vile birds in nature. Thankfully, they didn't stay long and they moved right along :) Thanks so much for stopping by!! Have a wonderful Thursday :)

Scrapy Land Challenge #52 - Halloween

Happy Wednesday!! I hope you are having a wonderful week!! It's time for a new challenge at Scrapy Land. The theme this week is Halloween PLUS a brand of die that Scrapy Land carries...there are over 40 to choose from!! You could win a $15 gift certificate to shop at Scrapy Land :)

The papers are from Echo Park's Chillingsworth Manor stack. The edges were distressed with a Zutter DIA and lightly inked with Black Soot Distress Ink.

To frame the scene, I used a Paper Artist Lacy Rectangle Frame die for the layers. Tucked along the edge is a LaLa Land Seaweed die. I know, I know, a seaweed die is a strange choice for a Halloween card, but I thought it looked creepy enough to add :)

The spider and spiderweb are Impression Obsession Spider Web dies. The spider was covered with Onyx glitter for a little added menace ;)

The tag was cut from the paper and then adhered to a Wild Rose Studio Gilded Tag die. Spooky Greetings and the skull and crossbones are from an old K Andrew Designs stamp set.

The witch is an Impression Obsession Witch Brewing die. I thought the cauldron was a little plain, so I cut another one and used a Paper Smooches Dots and Dashes die. The bats fluttering about are from Impression Obsession's Halloween Hill die.

My favorite part of the card is the potion bubbling from the cauldron!! I used Finnabair 3D Gloss Gel and some neon green Prills to create the bubbling brew.

I love this creepy quote from William Shakespeare's Macbeth: "By the pricking of my thumbs.."

"...something wicked this way comes." The quote was cut from the Chillingsworth Manor paper.

A Spellbinders Curved Borders 1 die was used for the inside of the card.

Brighter Days are Coming Your Way

Happy Sunday!! I hope you are having a wonderful weekend!! How can October be half over already??

I have a couple of cards to share with you today that I created for a very special cause. My sweet friend Becca of The Damsel of Distressed Cards is hosting The Hop to Stop, a blog hop to raise awareness for victims of domestic violence.

Becca is an such an inspiration and I hope you'll stop by her blog to read her story and then join me in supporting her very important cause.

I used Lemoncraft Everyday Spring papers for this card. A Memory Box Distressed Windham Collage die was used in the top corner.

Tucked among the Wild Orchid Crafts Pretty Flori flowers are Memory Box Chloe Stems, Elizabeth Craft Curvy Leaves and Impression Obsession Foliage. The beautiful crinkle ribbon is Pure Love from the Valentine Bundle at DL.ART.

A Spellbinders Decorative Labels 1 die was used to hide the sentiment tag. The butterfly is a Fiskars punch. The lace and cheesecloth are from my stash.

The tag is a Sue Wilson Pierced Tag die. I thought the sentiment was perfect for this hop. It's from My Creative Time's Be Awesome set. I finished it off with some white acrylic paint using a Tim Holtz Splatter Brush.

Because I can never make just one card, I made another in pink :) The papers for this one are from Lemoncraft's Neverending Summer stack. The rest of the details are the same except for the beautiful ribbon...it's my favorite - Sweet Love from DL.ART's Valentine Bundle.

Another perfect sentiment for this hop...Never Give Up is from My Creative Time's You Matter set.

I am entering this in Becca's hop and the following challenges:

1) Hop to Stop - Anything Goes Using Purple
2) Little Scrap Pieces - Show It Off Saturday

Thanks so much for stopping by!! Have a great day :)

DL.ART Thankful Thursday #190 - Halloween

Happy Thursday!! I hope you're having a wonderful week!! I'm still getting caught up after being away so if I haven't been by, I will be soon :) It's time for a new Thankful Thursday challenge at DL.ART. The theme for Challenge #190 is Halloween. If you use the code l01210, Diana will give you 10% off your purchase at DL.ART!!

For my Halloween projects, I created coffin shaped cards using the layered coffin dies from My Creative Time's Spooky Time set.

I wish I could tell you where the papers are from, but I honestly don't remember. I've had them in my stash a while. If anyone recognizes them, please let me know. I fussy cut the skull from the paper and popped it up with foam tape.

The witch image is from My Creative Time's Happy Haunting set. The spider is from Impression Obsession and he was covered in Sparkle N Sprinkle glitter.

The bats are from My Craft Spot (no longer in business). The sentiment is from MCT's Happy Haunting set. The gorgeous crinkle ribbon is Orange from The Rainbow Bundle. The button is a Poppystamps Stitched Button die. The twine is Orange Twine from Diana's shop.

I used the same Orange from The Rainbow Bundle and Orange Twine from for this card. The sentiment is from MCT's Happy Haunting set. I am entering this in the following challenges:

1) Little Scrap Pieces Show It Off Saturday - Anything Goes

Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2016 - October, plus Vacation Pictures

Happy Tuesday!! I'm still working on getting around to your blogs to visit. I'd hoped to be able to comment on all of the posts I missed while I was away, but I was leaving so many comments, blogger thought I was a spammer. I had to click on the "not a robot" button and then the picture captcha..sometimes multiple pictures. And it's hard to figure out what I'm supposed to click on when the blog is in a foreign language. It's taking me so long for just one comment, there's no way I can comment on all of your posts and I truly apologize, but I am scrolling through to see all of the ones I missed.

I have a few vacation pictures to share with you but first, I have my October tag for Tim's 12 Tags of 2016 challenge.

I pretty much followed Tim's instructions, substituting for materials I had on hand. Sadly, I don't have the cool monster face dies, so I used the Rickety House instead. To add dimension to the house like he did to the face, I popped up the roof with foam tape.

Some close-ups of the crackle on the patchwork collage background.

Also, I used Tim's Wood Plank Texture Fade instead of the Rivet Texture Fade. Tim used a metal spider and mine's a remnant rub.

The house took up so much space, I didn't have room for a word band, so I used haunted, a remnant rub. The eye in the corner is also one, to represent the eye on Tim's tag.

I'm entering this in the following challenges:

1) Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2016

Okay, now for some photos from my vacation if you're interested :) I took so many pictures, I haven't been able to go through them all, but I tried to pick out some highlights to share.

We had no agenda for the trip and really didn't know where we would end up. We pointed the motorhome south and started out on Galveston Island, Texas. Look...I found the perfect t-shirt:

So me!! It's even pink!! I had to buy it :)

The good thing about going in the off-season is that the are no crowds and you don't have to worry about reservations. We were looking for one campground and turned left instead of right, which took us to the east end where all the action was. Lucky for us we found a campground just steps away from the beach. I took this picture from a beach chair as I lounging under the awning.

We were right next to the spot where the helicopter took off for sightseeing tours of the island.

This is a shot of Pleasure Pier from the beach in front of the campground.

I snapped this shot of the pelican in front of one of the many ships that chugged along the waters.

After a few days in Texas, we drove along the bayous of Louisiana to...

...the Big Easy.

Here's a hazy shot of the city across Lake Pontchartrain.

And the Superdome.

From there, we drove along the gulf shores,

to Biloxi, Mississippi.

From there, it was on to Destin, Florida.

The campground we stayed at is actually in Miramir Beach and one of the few that you can camp right on the beach. I'm talking actually on the sand!! The view from the motorhome :)

Some pretty sea oats.

 The sunsets were amazing!!

So that's just a few shots from the trip. I truly didn't want to leave the beach, but it's back to the real world :) Thanks again for visiting my while I was away!! Have a wonderful day!! Big hugs :)
