It's time for a Fun Friday Challenge at Little Scrap Pieces :) Our theme this week is "April Showers" - we want you to use an umbrella, cloud, rain boots...

For my project, I wanted to use an awesome new rain stencil from The Crafter's Workshop, so I created a journal page.

The watercolor paper was spritzed with water and then sprayed with Dylusions sprays in Cut Grass, Fresh Lime, Dirty Martini, Calypso Teal, Vibrant Turquoise and London Blue. A Darkroom Door script stamp was stamped with Ranger Aquamarine Archival Ink. Stamps from Paper Wings Productions' Art Textures stamp set were stamped with Jet Black Archival Ink. The raindrops are a Crafter's Workshop Rain stencil, sponged with white acrylic paint and outlined with a black Faber-Castell Pitt Artist Pen. The grass along the bottom is a Dylusions On the Edge stamp, colored in with Dylusions Cut Grass in a Tim Holtz Waterbrush. The border along the sides and top are from a Dylusions Further Around the Block set, colored in with a TH Waterbrush filled with Funky Fushia and a white Sakura Gelly Roll Pen. The edges of the page were outlined with a charcoal pencil.

April Showers was cut from a scrap piece of watercolor paper sprayed with Dylusions sprays in Squeezed Orange, Lemon Zest and Pure Sunshine. The letters are from TH's Wanted die and were scribbled with a white gelly roll pen.

The girl and umbrella are from Dylusions Ruby Rainbow stamp set. The umbrella was colored in with TH Distress Markers in Barn Door, Fired Brick, Dusty Concord and Walnut and a waterbrush. Ruby was colored with TH Distress Markers in Barn Door, Fired Brick, Spiced Marmalade, Wild Honey, Peeled Paint, Broken China, Dusty Concord, a waterbrush and a white gelly roll pen. Her hair was colored in with a waterbrush filled with Dylusions Lemon Zest. She was outlined with charcoal and then white charcoal. The bird is from a Dylusions How Does Your Garden Grow set, colored in with a waterbrush filled with Dirty Martini. The sentiment is a Tim Holtz Good Thoughts stamp set, colored in with waterbrushes filled with Postbox Red and After Midnight, and a white gelly roll pen. It was outlined with white charcoal.

Decorate to Celebrate #48 - Tea Time

Happy Wednesday!! I hope you are having a fabulous start to April!! It's time for another super-fun challenge at Decorate to Celebrate. For Challenge #48, we are asking you to create any project to be used as a party decoration (or party supply) for a Tea Party!! Let's celebrate everything wonderful about little tea sets, sugar cubes and tea cups with your table decorations, party banners, pennants, yard signs, cupcakes, party favors and more  :)

Growing up, my sister and I were never girly girls. We played with Barbies and stuffed animals, but we would have rather been outside playing kickball or softball and getting dirty. We never had tea parties. So I was struggling a bit with this challenge, until I found THIS tutorial on how to make a paper tea cup.

The papers are from Basic Grey's Out of Print stack and heavyweight cardstock from Canvas Corp. The plate was made from a Spellbinders Beaded Circles Die and a Spellbinders Standard Circles Large die, adorned with crystals.

The invite was created with a Spellbinders Fleur de Lis Square and Spellbinders Classic Squares Small die, the edges inked with Tim Holtz Broken China Distress Ink. The teapot is from K Andrew Designs Coffee & Tea Time stamp set. It was colored in with TH Broken China Distress ink and a TH Waterbrush. "You're Invited" is from the K Andrew Designs Sweet July stamp set.

Now it's your turn!! Head on over to Decorate to Celebrate to see the amazing projects my talented design team sisters have created for today's challenge. Then link up your Tea Party project...I can't wait to see what you create :)

Spread Your Wings and WINNERS!!

Happy Monday and first day of April!! I hope you had a wonderful Easter!! It was a beautiful weekend here - sunny and in the 50's. The Daffodils are blooming...I finally feel like spring is here!! And speaking of spring, my niece and step-niece are coming to stay with me this week for their spring break, so I won't be around very much. I have some DT commitments set to auto-post. I will stop by your blogs when they leave :)

I have another journal page to share with you today. I have been experimenting with different techniques and having so much fun. The pictures don't really show all of the details of the background. Someday, I'm going to splurge and get a video camera...it would be easier than trying to explain the steps :)

I started by adding papers from DCWV's Music stack, adhered with Claudine Hellmuth's Matte Multi Medium. Then a wash of white acrylic paint and water was brushed over the papers. Next was a layer of peach acrylic paint, spread with a credit card. Once that was dry, sea glass acrylic paint was added. The peach paint was brushed over bubble wrap and stamped on the background. Several TH stamps from the Ultimate Grunge, Psychedelic Grunge and Slight Alterations sets were stamped with Antique Linen, Old Paper, Brushed Sage and Dried Marigold Distress Inks, as well as white acrylic paint. The letters are from TH's Word Play die, cut on Grungepaper and painted with peach, sea glass and white acrylic paint. They were then stamped with the French script stamp from Darkroom Door. I love this stamp - it's really large so you can cover a lot of area at once. The edges of the page, the letters and wings were outlined with charcoal and a white Sakura Gelly Roll pen.

The wings are a TH Layered Wings die cut with Grungepaper. The bottom layer was covered with sea glass acrylic paint, the next layer peach and the top white. They were then stamped with the same Darkroom Door French script stamp with Ranger Jet Black Archival Ink. The butterflies are from the TH Shabby French stamp set.

I am entering this in the following challenges:
  1. Simon Says Stamp - Anything Goes
  2. Simon Says Stamp and Show - Anything Goes
